About Us

logo of the ETH Model United Nations

ETH Model United Nations was founded in 2007 by two enthusiastic students who knew about the principle of Model United Nations and could not bear this idea of not being implemented at Europe’s leading technological university.

Ever since that moment Members of ETH MUN have organized weekly meetings to simulate the work and the intense debates of the UN and to prepare for international MUN conferences where they would debate with other committed students from all over the world and win awards for their outstanding diplomatic and negotiation skills.

Today, ETH MUN is one of the biggest commissions of the VSETH (Students' Union of the ETH) with an ever growing number of members and an active Alumni network.

WorldMUN Delegation 2010

We offer a platform for students to understand the importance and the mechanisms of the UN and implement their ideas of making the world a better place. In our society students improve their English speaking skills and practice their public speaking skills as well as negotiation techniques in the course of convincing other delegates of their ideas.

The highlight of each semester is attending one out of more than 400 international MUN conferences around the world. We send delegations of 6 to 18 people to two or three conferences each semester where we debate with students from other countries and make friends all over the world. Conferences we have visited include WorldMUN (Puebla/ The Hague/ Taipei/ Singapore), Aimun (Beijing), OxIMUN (Oxford), CMUNNY and NMUN (New York) as well as EuroMUN (Maastricht) and C’MUN (Barcelona).

At these international conferences some of our Members were able to win several best delegate awards. This exemplifies our ability to act on the global stage dealing with international politics even though most of us have a technological background.

We see ourselves as a group of friends united in the idea of MUN and open for every new student interested in MUN. Join us if you would like to profit from the advantages of MUN or simply be introduced into the fascinating world of international relations!
